This list doesn’t include the height of pedestals or buildings that the statue might be standing on. For example, the Statue of Liberty measures a total of 93 meters, but it’s standing on a 47 meters pedestal, which means that the statue itself is “just” 46 meters tall.

15. Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue

Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue depicts Vishnu riding Garuda, and it’s the tallest statue in Indonesia and the tallest statue in the world that features a Hindu deity. It’s located on the island of Bali and was completed in 2018.

14. Guanyin statue in Tsz Shan Monastery

The Guanyin statue in Tsz Shan Monastery is the tallest statue in Hong Kong with a height of 76 meters. It was unveiled in 2012 and depicts the bodhisattva Guanyin.

13. Bronze statue of Dizang at Mount Jiuhua

The Bronze Statue of Dizang depicts the bodhisattva known as Ksitigarbha and stands tall at 76 meters in Qingyang county in China. It was finished in 2012 and has a total height of 99 meters including its base.

12. Guanyin of Nanshan

Guanyin is one of the most depicted bodhisattvas among the tallest statues in the world, and this particular one can be found in Sanya on Hainan island.

It was finished in 2005 and has a height of 78 meters, or 108 meters including its pedestal.

11. Grand Buddha at Ling Shan

The Grand Buddha at Ling Shan is dedicated to the celestial Buddha known as Amitabha. It’s located in Wuxi in Jiangsu, China and has a total height of 79 meters or 88 meters including its pedestal.

10. Awaji Kannon

Awaji Kannon is one of the tallest statues in the world at a height of 80 meters, and 100 meters in total if you include the pedestal. It stands on the Awaji Island in the Awaji Island, Hyōgo Prefecture and represents a depiction of the famous bodhisattva Guanyin.

9. Rodina-Mat’ Zovyot!

Rodina-Mat Zoyot can be translated as “The Motherland Calls” and it’s the tallest statue in Russia as well as in Europe. It stands proudly at 85 meters on the hill of Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd.

8. Daikannon of Kita no Miyako park

This impressive Buddha statue is located in the city of Ashibetsu in Hokkaido, in northern Japan. The statue was built in 1989 and has a height of 88 meters and depicts the bodhisattva Guanyin.

It was ranked as the tallest statue in the world between World’s tallest statue 1989–1991 before Sendai Daikannon was built.

7. Great Buddha of Thailand

The Great Buddha of Thailand is located in Ang Thong and has a height of 92 meters, which makes it the tallest statue in Thailand. It’s very impressive and clearly stands out in the otherwise relatively flat landscape surrounding the statue.

6. Qianshou Qianyan Guanyin of Weishan

This is the second tallest statue in China, also known as Guishan Guanyin of the Thousand Hands and Eyes. It’s a gilded bronze statue that stands 99 meters tall in Changsa.

5. Sendai Daikannon

The cityscape of Sendai is dominated by the 100-meter tall statue known as Sendai Daikannon. It was the World’s tallest statue between 1991–1993 and remain as one of the most impressive statues in Japan as well as worldwide.

4. Ushiku Daibutsu

The fourth tallest statue in the world stands tall at 100 meters in the city of Ushiku in Japan. It’s the tallest Japanese statue and depicts the Amitabha Buddha, also known as the Great Buddha of Ushiku.

It was unveiled in 1995 and is considered to be a sacred statue with three floors that visitors can visit. The Ushiku Daibutsu has a weight of 4000 tonnes, which also makes it one of the heaviest statues in the world.

3. Laykyun Sekkya

Laykyun Sekkya is the tallest statue in Myanmar and depicts Siddharta Gautama, also known as Buddha. It was built by Chief Abbot Ven and was unveiled in 2008.

It’s located in Monywa and has a reclining Buddha which lays beside the statue. It has a height of 115.8 meters and attracts many visitors every year due to its massive size and religious significance.

2. Spring Temple Buddha

The Spring Temple Buddha is the second tallest statue in the world with a height of 128 meters (420 feet). It was unveiled in 2008 and is located in Lushan in the Chinese province of Henan. The statue is built in steel, copper, and gold.

The Spring Temple Buddha was built in Henan because of its importance as a place of Buddhist pilgrimage and has since become a popular tourist destination.

1. Statue of Unity

The Statue of Unity in India was unveiled on October 31, 2018, with a height of 182 meters, which makes it the tallest statue in India as well as in the world.

It portrays one of the founding fathers, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and stands with pride in the city of Kevadia, in the western state of Gujarat.
