Want to know more about the famous Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa? It’s one of the best beaches in Cyprus and has long attracted foreigners from all over the world.
The beach is known for its lively atmosphere, watersports, and of course the amazing color of the water and white sand.
Nissi Beach has been awarded Blue Flag status and has consistently been ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. It’s one of the most visited beaches in Cyprus, and although it’s crowded in the summer months, it’s still worth to visit at least once.
The beach is especially popular among the younger crowds, but it’s also a great family beach since the water is shallow. There are also different sections of the beach, and the one closest to the small islet is the most crowded spot, whereas further to the left you will find the atmosphere to be calmer with fewer people.

The small island is easy to reach, either by foot or swimming. A lot of people are walking over there to explore the small islet, which is also great for snorkeling.
It is also in this part of Nissi Beach where you will find the watersport section that has lots of fun activities for the whole family.
If you want to experience Nissi Beach without the crowds, then I suggest that you come here in May or June, or September and October. The months of July and August are typically very crowded, just like many other popular beaches in Europe.
The beach stretches for about 500 meters, and it’s truly an amazing beach with crystal clear waters and fine golden-white sand.
How to get to Nissi Beach
From Larnaca
The journey from Larnaca takes about 42 minutes by car, and it’s very easy to drive there via the highway A3. Take the exit to E326 and the Sotou Chatziprokopiou, and just follow the road until you get to Nissi Avenue, where you turn right, and then you will almost be at the parking space.
From Nicosia
If you’re driving from Nicosia, it will take about 1 hour to get to Nissi Beach by car. Just like if going from Larnaca, you’ll drive on the A3, and take the exit to E326.
From Paphos
Going from Paphos might not be something the typical tourist does, but considering that the beaches are much better on the east side, it might be worth the trip. You can drive from Paphos on highway A3 and follow the same route from Larnaca and onwards.
The journey takes about 2 hours. Unfortunately, there is no direct bus from Paphos, so you will need to rent a car.
From Protaras
Protaras is located east of Ayia Napa, and the drive takes about 24 minutes. The fastest route is via E306, and then A3.
How to get to Nissi Beach by bus
Tourists staying in Paralimni, Protaras or Ayia Napa can take bus number 101, and jump off at Nisi Avenue 1 or Agias Theklas 1. From there it’s just a short walk to the beach. If you’re staying in Larnaca, there is also an intercity bus (number 711) that stops right next to the beach.
