Going over on the ferry from Helsingborg to Elsinore is a real old classic. The ferries run almost around the clock and during certain times of the day as often as 3-4 times per hour. Lots of Swedes commute to Denmark, but many also go to Elsinore for a day trip or to travel further into Denmark.

Information on the ferries between Helsingborg and Elsinore
The ferries began to go across the strait already in 1891, and after that, the number of departures and passengers have increased a lot. Nowadays, there are two different ferry companies going from Helsingborg to Elsinore and back. These are Scandlines and Sundbusserne.
Scandlines are the classic ferries that also accepts cars and trucks. Sundbusserne is smaller and depart from the harbor square (Hamntorget) and on these you’re allowed to bring a bike or beer cart for free. Earlier there were also HH-Ferries, which is now owned by the same group behind Scandlines.
Scandlines offers five ferries, three of which goes under the name Scandlines and two under the name HH Ferries. The five ferry vessels are Aurora, Tycho Brahe and Hamlet and Mercandia Mercandia IV and VIII.
Sundbusserne has one boat that departs every hour. The boat is named M/S Pernille. The difference is pretty much all that “Sundsbussen” is a little more charming and smaller.

Timetable for Scandlines
Scandlines during daytime departure every 20 minutes, both from Helsingborg to Elsinore and Elsinore to Helsingborg. Delays are rare. In the evening and during the night, the boats have two departures per hour.
