All airlines have their own set of rules for baggage handling and the dimensions and weight of hand luggage. For those who travel a lot or often it can be tricky to keep track of what applies to each airline. And although many have similar rules on hand baggage dimensions and weight so it may differ slightly kilograms or centimeters, which in turn can result in an expensive business.

I made this mistake only once, not checking rules for hand luggage before departure, this led to an overweight fee equal to 50 euros for my hand luggage. My other alternative was to leave it at the gate. I chose to pay and since then I have always checked carry on sizes and weight limits out in advance.

To make it fairly easy for everyone else, I have compiled a list of the most common air carriers and their limits for hand luggage dimensions and allowed weight.

Below you can find shortcuts to each airline on the list. Simply click on the name of the airline you’re interested in, and you will automatically get to that specific airline’s hand luggage size and weight.
