The beaches in Koh Lanta are truly beautiful and there is plenty of variety ranging from tranquil and secluded beaches to more lively beaches such as Long Beach.
Here’s something for everyone, no matter if you’re going here on a romantic honeymoon or if you’re traveling as a family with kids.
Koh Lanta is one of my favorite islands in Thailand, and I have been traveling around the island by scooter to find the best beaches in Koh Lanta. In this article, you can read more about them and see pictures from different beaches.
Long Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Koh Lanta. It features a 5-kilometer sandy stretch lined with accommodations, bars, and restaurants. Long Beach is also known as Phra Ae Beach.
The northern part is most suitable for swimming due to fewer rocks. Due to its length, Long Beach in Koh Lanta is also great for long walks in the sand by the water.
Klong Dao Beach
Klong Dao Beach is located in the northern part of the island, approximately 1 kilometer from Sala Dan. The shallow water and wide stretch of sand make it a great choice for families traveling with children.
Kantiang Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in Koh Lanta. It’s a secluded bay that is located in the southern part of the island.
Kantiang Bay is a picture-perfect beach with white sand and turquoise water that often can be enjoyed without the tourist masses. The best view of Kantiang Bay can be seen from the lovely restaurant and bar Phu Pha View.
Klong Nin beach
Klong Nin Beach is a great place to go for swimming and relaxation. It’s a calm beach with shallow water. Klong Nin is also a lovely place to watch the sunset.
Klong Khong Beach
Klong Khong Beach is located in the middle section of the island. It features a sandy beach that stretches for around 3 kilometers. Visitors who come here need to pay attention to low- and high tides.
Due to its rocky nature, Klong Khon Beach is not an ideal place to go for swimming. However, it’s quite a cool experience to sit down at one of the beach bars when the high tide comes in and almost reaches all the way to your feet in the sand.
Nui Beach is located along the west coast, south of Klong Nin Beach. It comes with crystal clear water with a gradient blue shimmer. This place is also great to watch the sun go down with a gorgeous view of the horizon.
Ta Naoad Beach
Ta Naoad Beach is located in Mu Ko Lanta National Park, right next to the island’s famous lighthouse on the southern tip of Koh Lanta. It’s a pristine beach that features crystal-clear water and white sand.
Hiking the Leam Tanod Nature Trail and then rewarding yourself with some swimming and relaxation on the beach is a great way to spend a few hours. Remember to bring water and snacks since there is no service here.
Nui Bay is a small bay that is located south of Kantiang Bay and the restaurant Phu Pha View. It’s a great place for relaxation since very few tourists find their way here.
If you ask me, Nui Bay is definitely one of the hidden gems of Koh Lanta. There is a small bar/restaurant and during tourist season, one can even get a nice massage on the beach.
Bamboo Bay Beach is a great place to go for visitors that prefer a lonely and quiet beach in Koh Lanta. It’s located at the southern point of the island, so very few tourists come here for sunbathing.
The beach itself is surrounded by deep jungle and visitors are rewarded with a tranquil beach experience with the feeling of being all alone on a beautiful island.
There’s a lovely resort located near the beach that is called La Laanta Hideaway Resort, which is one of my favorite hotels in Koh Lanta.
Khlong Chak Beach
Khlong Chak Beach is located between Bamboo Beach and Nui Bay in the southern part of the island. Just like the other two, it’s one of the most secluded beaches in Koh Lanta, perfect for visitors searching for a quiet and calm day in the sun.
